Advantages of choosing GroPower for your carbon offsets
- All of the trees we plant are non-edible, vegetable oil producing trees. The oil can and will be used as biodiesel feedstock. As the oil is non-edible it won't compete with food supplies and negatively affect the price of food. The land we plant on is either idle land, marginal land, damaged land or planted in between existing plants (intercropped). Again ensuring that we don't create a food versus fuel competition.
- The landowners AND the people working the land earn a fair share of the profits.
- You earn year after year, the amount determined by how many trees have been planted on your behalf, the amount and types of plants intercroppped with your trees and the prevailing price of biofuel feedstock oils. Those earnings can be donated to one of the charities GroPower supports or applied against future offsets, or if you prefer you can recieve a check in the amount of the credits earned.
- You help local communities in the developing world take steps towards self sufficiency by helping develop an industry they can take part in.
- GroPower plantations operate on a zero waste policy. Every kilo of biomass generated per hectare is used towards a good and useful end.
- You get to declare your business or yourself as carbon neutral. Through carbon neutrality you gain a significant competitive and marketing advantage. Many companies who care for the environment choose to do business only with other companies that feel the same. Many consumers also factor environmental issues into their choice of who to buy from. These are trends that are rapidly growing. The time is fast coming when a company that is not environmentally friendly may find itself losing business to competitors who are.
