How does the profit share work?
Each harvest 50% of the profits derived from your trees are shared with you the offset purchaser. You have a choice what happens with these profits: you can choose from the following options.
- (1) Donate to Red Cross / Red Crescent (www.redcross.int)
- (2) Donate to UNICEF (www.unicef.org)
- (3) Donate to various Open Source Projects
- (4) Donate to the One Laptop Per Child Project (OLPC) (www.laptop.org)
- (5) Have the profits sent to you as a check.
- (6) Apply to your future carbon offset purchases
Each year you will recieve an email asking you what you wish done with your profits. You can make the same choice each year or choose a different one, as you prefer.
The profits will continue for the productive life of the tree: 40+ years!

(1) Donate to Red Cross / Red Crescent (www.redcross.int)
The Red Cross is an international aid agency that provides assistance to those in need during times of war or disaster regardless of race, creed, color, religion or politics.
(2) Donate to UNICEF (www.unicef.org).
UNICEF is the United Nations charity providing aid to disadvantaged children around the world, creating hope where before there was none.
(3) Donate to various Open Source Projects.
Open Source software is software whose code is non proprietary and open to public scrutiny. The internet was founded and to this day much of it is maintained through open source software. Donations to open source go to supporting open source software. The choice of which projects to support is made by you and other supporters voting each year.
(4) Donate to the One Laptop Per Child Project (OLPC) (www.laptop.org)
The OLPC project aims to put a specially designed low cost laptop on every child's desk everywhere in the world. It brings opportunity and technology to those who otherwise may never see a computer.
(5) Have the profits sent to you as a check.
Just like it says, receive the profits youself and spend them as you see fit. A good option if you want to donate to a charity not currently supported by us.
Please note that checks are only delivered if the amount due is $50.00 or more. If the amount is less than $50.00 it will be held over to the next year, or you can choose from one of the other options such as applying the profit to another offset purchase or donating it to charity.
(6) Apply to your future carbon offset purchases
Apply the credit to offset purchases in the following years, saving you money each time you purchase an offset.
